A woman from Hanau is in trouble with the law for supposedly running a secret group of brothels and not paying taxes. The Frankfurt Public Prosecutor’s Office revealed this news on Wednesday, saying the woman led a gang that ran brothels for at least five years. They say she also brought Chinese women into the country for prostitution.
The woman, who is 45 years old, is thought to have been the boss of the group, managing twelve apartments that were turned into brothels in Hesse and Baden-Württemberg. She is said to have avoided paying taxes by not telling the government about her workers and hiding her money. The prosecutors say she dodged paying over 1.19 million euros in taxes, and the government lost over 1.3 million euros in social security payments.
The charges also include a 60-year-old man from Rüsselsheim, who is accused of being the group’s driver. And there’s a 45-year-old woman from Ulm who is accused of talking between the prostitutes and clients.
The police started looking into the group in April 2022, and in the summer of 2023, they raided the brothels and arrested the two women. The brothels were found in different cities, like Baden-Baden, Offenbach am Main, Rüsselsheim, Schweinfurt, Stuttgart, and Wetzlar, as well as in a few districts around there.
