In Leinfelden-Echterdingen, a group of ten committed individuals organized an educational exhibition on sex trafficking, human trafficking, and forced prostitution. The exhibition titled “faceless – Women in Prostitution” was presented to the public at the Leinfelder House.
The initiative was sparked by a press meeting where Regina Golke from Stetten met journalist Hilke Lorenz. Lorenz reported on prostitution as a “modern form of slavery” and the trial against the Paradise brothel. As a court reporter, she informed that brothel owner Jürgen Rudloff had been sentenced to five years in prison by the Stuttgart Regional Court in February 2019 for aiding human trafficking, forced prostitution, and fraud.
The truth behind the red light district
Lorenz revealed that 90-95 percent of women do not voluntarily work in prostitution – a statistic that deeply shocked Golke and motivated her to take action. She described this alarming figure as her driving force.
Golke detailed how women are lured into prostitution through false promises, subsequently have their identity documents taken away, and are subjected to physical violence.
She emphasized that while the prostitution industry in Germany generates millions in revenue, these profits primarily benefit pimps and brothel operators, not the women themselves.
She described the notion that women can be viewed as commodities as inconceivable and stressed that true equality is impossible as long as this attitude persists among clients. In 2022, Golke founded the Prostitution Working Group Leinfelden-Echterdingen to address these issues. The exhibition included 40 photographs by Hyp Yerlikaya, which had previously been shown in Stuttgart and Esslingen.
The images depicted women wearing white masks to protect their identities, while accompanying panels documented their fears, concerns, and hopes. The Mannheim counseling center Amalie provided the exhibition.
Support network and program details
The initiative received support from several organizations, including Rahab (Esslingen counseling center for people in prostitution), the State Center for Political Education, the Citizens’ Foundation, the Adult Education Center, and the city administration.
The exhibition was complemented by various lectures. Gunda Rosenauer from the Ludwigsburg Alliance Against Human Trafficking and Jörg Kuebart, Federal Chairman of Zeromacho Germany, explained why prostitution is not a regular profession.
Police investigators involved in the Paradise trial as well as Swedish criminal officer Simon Häggström, who reported on the Swedish prostitution model, also gave presentations.
Mayor Carl-Gustav Kalbfell and Astrid Fehrenbach from the Amalie counseling center spoke at the opening event. Staff members from Rahab also reported on their practical work. Interested visitors could participate in guided tours of the exhibition, and although there was no admission fee, donations were welcome.

Authorities in Villach have conducted two significant operations targeting different forms of criminal activity. In one case, a 35-year-old armed robber was apprehended at a local brothel just hours after threatening a tobacconist shop employee and fleeing with cash. In a separate, more extensive five-day operation, Carinthian police collaborated with immigration officials to investigate illegal prostitution networks operating in Villach and Klagenfurt. The investigation resulted in the deportation of ten women aged 18-25 from Romania and Hungary, with officials suspecting they may have been victims of the “Loverboy Method” of human trafficking. Investigations into suspected pimps continue as authorities believe they’ve uncovered part of a larger international network.
