A businessman in Berlin has recently opened a new establishment called a “cybrothel.” It offers services that combine sex dolls with advanced artificial intelligence (AI). Customers can book rooms and interact with these AI-enhanced dolls both verbally and physically on an hourly basis.
Philipp Fussenegger, the founder of the cybrothel, states that many people find this concept appealing because it allows them to interact with a machine without fear of judgment. Previously, there was a demand for bookings with sex dolls where human operators were involved. However, the integration of AI has significantly increased interest.
Criticism from the scientific community
Despite its popularity, the cybrothel has faced criticism, including from the scientific community. Critics are concerned about the lack of transparency regarding the data used to train these sex chatbots. They worry that the AI systems might reinforce gender-specific biases among users. Additionally, there is concern that these services could increase the loneliness often experienced by the target demographic, particularly men.
Data protection is another major issue with sex chatbots. The industry often designs AI tools to collect extensive data, which can be sold to third parties, raising significant privacy concerns.
Some experts warn that personalized AI sex experiences might make real human interactions seem disappointing, as they cannot offer the same level of control and customization.
Furthermore, there are concerns that using AI in this way might lead some customers to try to transfer these behaviors to relationships with real people, who may not be willing participants. Company representatives, however, argue that AI should be seen as a way to enhance human sexuality rather than replace interpersonal relationships. They emphasize that AI can expand sexual experiences without undermining human connections.
Interesting idea but it is still far from a real brothel experience
The media loved the idea of the cybrothel, but mostly because of its buzz value. The owner of the brothel also has experience with dolls, as he works in the filmmaking industry. There is also a video on the cybrothel’s website, where the “sex” with a doll can be checked:
However the idea is interesting and somehow new, we already saw such in the past: Kontakthof 1 bought few sex dolls in 2017 to offer them for sex in the brothel. The management might got the idea from Spain, where a brothel also tried to offer sex with a doll half year before Kontakthof, but it did not become a success. Goldentime also bought a doll but this sauna club finally did not offer it as a service.
Now, 7 years ago, the Artificial Intelligence is adding an additional layer to the experience, but by watching the video of Cyberbrothel, this is still far from the real sex with women.
