Police and local authorities in the Austrian city of Linz have closed four illegal brothels during a coordinated operation. The action was part of a wider effort to combat illegal prostitution and related criminal activity.
The raids were carried out simultaneously at several locations across the city. Officials said the operation followed careful preparation and investigation. All four properties were immediately closed by authorities.
Multiple Charges Filed After Operation
Police have launched several criminal cases, including charges related to pimping and cross-border prostitution. During the operation, two individuals who were staying in Austria without legal permission were arrested.
Authorities also issued financial penalties under regional laws regulating sex work. In total, fines amounting to 1,200 euros were collected during the inspections.
Fake Documents and Drugs Discovered
During the searches, officers found a Chinese passport that contained a fake visa sticker. The person in possession of the document is now under investigation for suspected forgery.
In addition, police discovered a small quantity of cocaine. The individual linked to the drugs will also face legal action, according to authorities.
Officials say the operation highlights the ongoing challenges in tackling illegal prostitution networks. Investigations are continuing, and authorities have not ruled out further actions in connection with the case.
